It's a Zoo Around Here

Well it's always a zoo around here but this past weekend we were able to make a short visit over to the actual zoo.  The kids had last Monday off because of a teacher inservice so we decided to head over to Omaha Sunday to visit my aunt and uncle as well as Carl's aunt and also make a trip to the zoo.  We were able to meet my aunt and uncle for lunch on Sunday and then we went to our hotel and rested awhile and met Carl's aunt for dinner that night.  After dinner the kids got to swim(which they were very excited about all day!) We probably won't be able to do this much longer!

Monday we met up with my aunt and uncle (and my dad who came over with us as well) at the zoo.  The kids LOVED it.  They loved climbing on the lions.

and all the sights of the desert dome.

and the creatures of the night as well but about that time this smiley guy needed to eat so I took him out for a bottle while everyone else checked that out.
(pay no attention to the purple, girly blanket.  It was cold and windy in the morning and we forgot to grab Ezra's blanket when we left so Callie's had to do:)

One of the kids favorite parts was the aquarium.  The LOVED everything.

Even Ezra was mesmerized by the tunnel aquarium.

The new Jelly Fish exhibit was really cool.

and of course no trip to an aquarium is complete without seeing Nemo(he's in there though hard to see in the picture:)
After the aquarium we had lunch and had to tell Sue and shortly after Dave goodbye as Sue had to go to work and Dave to pick up Cory from school.  We went and visited the big cats and Callie loved the lion.  We then made our way up to feed the Budgies.

The Budgies weren't super hungry this day we decided and didn"t have a ton of luck getting them to eat off of our birdseed covered sticks.  After the Budgies Grandpa bought the kids a ride on the carousel.  Ty picked this Rhino.
Callie picked the zebra
and at first Gabe picked the Tiger until he discovered that he didn't go up and down and then quickly changed his mind and picked this Rooster next to Ty(Which Callie thought was hilarious, ask her what Gabe rode on the carousel and she will tell you hysterically that Gabe rode a chicken)
After a visit to the bears we went to see the Apes.  We got right up to the glass and they were definately easy to see during our visit.  The highlight was when one one gorilla pounded the glass near where we were standing.

These guys were too cute not to take a picture of.
and this snake was definately not cute but Gabe wanted his picture with it anyway:)
We also had to go see the Zebra's and Bongo's(and the Cheetah and Warthogs too)

On our way back up to the Jungle I had Callie stop and pose by the butterflies.
Our last stop for the day was the Jungle.  The monkeys are always fun to watch.
and these monkeys were pretty fun to watch as well.
This guy was interesting too.  We probably could have stood there for much longer and Mr Sloth would still not have moved a whole lot.
and before we left the zoo I tried rather unsuccessfully to get a picture of all 4 kiddos on the tortoise.

Oh well maybe next time we go we will get a better picture of all 4.  When I'm not afraid Gabe will drop the baby and the others learn to actually look at the camera(a girl can dream)

Look Who's 3!

I can hardly believe it but Callie turned 3 on Tuesday!  She woke up to a birthday donut and princess balloons.
She also got to open a present and she was very pleased to discover it was this Foofa hat.
Even though it was warm that day she insisted on wearing it wherever we went!
That night we went to Hickory Park for the traditional birthday sundae.
She wasn't so sure about all the people singing to her but she did love her ice cream!
I forgot to take her chair picture on her birthday but did finally remember today.  Our 3 year old in the big chair!
Her celebrations are not quite over yet as we are having a small family party this Saturday.  I'm sure she will be excited for that.  It's crazy to think that 3 short years ago she came into our family and added a touch of pink to our shades of blue(and lots of drama!)  We love you Callaghan Grayce, you make every day an adventure.  We wouldn't trade your bright smile, your funny expressions, your orneriness and yes even your drama for anything.  We are blessed to be your parents.

3 Months

Ezra turned 3 months old on Saturday!  He has mellowed out a little bit in his old age and is a pretty easy going baby for the most part now.  He likes watching the lights on his bouncy seat as well as playing on the floor.  He is not a big fan of tummy time but will tolerate it for a little while.  His biggest accomplishment this month is that he sleeps through the night!  Mommy LOVES that accomplishment.  He smiles a lot more now as well and is even starting to laugh a little bit.  He is still on an every 3 hour eating schedule except at night.  He is not the best napper but since he sleeps well at night I can't complain too much.  He continues to bring much entertainment and laughter to our house and he is doted on by pretty much everyone here.  We love our little Ezzer Bean.
Seriously who couldn't love that grin and those cheeks!
(maybe next month we won't fall over quite so easily:)

4th Child Syndrome

Sometimes I feel guilty that Ezra suffers from 4th child syndrome.  We were talking the other day that Gabe would have had 20 toys around him at all times entertaining him and responding to his every little coo, smile and wimper.  I realized I haven't gotten out one single baby toy yet for Ezra, granted he has 3 other little faces in his most of his waking moments but still.  Then there's the picture ratio.  Gabe has MANY picture books full of pictures and Ty has a few less but still a lot.  Callie has one dedicated picture book to her newborn days but lots of digital files online that I haven't gotten around to doing anything with yet, because you know she was the first and only girl so naturally we took pictures of her in all things girly.  Then there's poor Ezra, he does have a newborn book I made for him but I know that even the digital pictures I have of him are less then the other kiddos.  So to ease some of my Mommy Guilt.  This post is strictly dedicated to our very much loved final little blessing, whom we are over the moon about even if we don't have as many pictures to prove it:)

Let's Go State

Today is the big in state rivalry.  No question where loyalties lie around here!  Let's Go State!
