Cheap Entertainment
Sometimes the simplest things make for the greatest fun. That was the case at our house with balloons. We had given Carl some Thank You balloons for being such an awesome husband, daddy and supporter when I started my part time job and the boys latched onto the balloons shortly after.
They enjoyed letting them go and then trying to catch them and then occasionally hitting each other with them.
Ty liked to put his in his mouth a few times and I was afraid it would pop but it was strong and held out.
The bath tub is also good cheap entertainment.
The boys always have lots of fun in the bath, it is usually a much needed break during the long winter months.

I think we are all ready for warmer, Spring weather. The other day when we were driving we drove by the swings at the end of our street and Gabe asked if it was Spring yet...I told him nope not until all the snow is gone, he replied that he wished Spring would hurry up he was tired of winter. I think those are all of our sentiments around here.

Pure Joy
Nothing brings pure joy at our house like ice cream. Shakes(or Milkpops as Gabe calls them) are a definite favorite.
Friday night we went out to dinner with my mom and dad and decided that afterwards we were going to head to Burgies to get some shakes(especially since I get a discount now:) Gabe came in with me and picked out his flavor and we took one back out to the car for Daddy and Ty. When we got home Gabe decided to be a good big brother and share his shake with Ty
and Daddy also generously gave Ty the rest of his shake.
Ty LOVES ice cream and got very angry when all the shakes were gone. He even enjoyed my Jamocha shake(with espresso-decaf for those concerned). Pure joy also comes in the form of outside time, espcially for a little boy who has been couped up in the house for a few months. Gabe loved his outside time this past weekend.
He splashed through the puddles with his Lightning McQueen boots
and even dismembered his beloved snowman whose head and middle had pretty much fallen off already(he is waving around it's "arm" in this picture) amazing how quickly it goes from being an arm to a sword.
He also enjoyed sliding down the hill, he had very wet pants when we went in.
We have been enjoying the warmer weather so much but I'm sure we will have more snow and cold to come but it has been great getting a taste of Spring.

Happy February!
It's been awhile since I have posted it seems like everything gets rather monotonous in the winter and I just haven't been taking very many pictures lately. There have been a few changes at our house. I started working at Burgies(a local coffee shop/cafe) part time. I have been training since last week and I have enjoyed it a lot so far. Once I am trained I will mostly be working a few evenings and some on the weekend but during training I have had to take some day hours...so thanks so much to everyone who has so graciously watched our kiddos. Clear back in December Carl's car(the Sunfire) blew out its head gasket and the cost to fix it was more then car was worth so after a few months of being without a 2nd vehicle for the most part Carls mom and dad brought down his Grandma's 1980 Ford station wagon. It only has 80,000 miles on it! It is red and Carl is digging his new retro car:) While they were down Carl took them out and showed them a lot of the projects that he has been working on. It was such a nice day Saturday he went out to take pictures of them for work. He borrowed Skows very nice camera and was able to get some great shots. When he got home he played with it and took these of the boys.

A Little Bit of This a Little Bit of That
This title reflects my very random post today. We have kept pretty busy the last week or so. Saturday my wonderful husband kept the kids(or so I thought) so my friend Heather and I could go shopping for a fun filled day without the constant interruptions of the little ones for my birthday. I left Saturday morning and went to Heathers house and we spent a lot of time bargain hunting(I love Clearance Sales!) and went out to eat. It was great getting away without the kiddos. When I arrived home Gabe met me at the front entry with news of a surprise for me in the kitchen. I went in and saw that while I was gone Carl had sent the kids over to my mom and dads and had Brian from work come over and they started the tile on our backsplash in the kitchen, this had been a long time coming and I was not so subtly dropping hints to Carl for awhile that I would love it to get done, it has since been completed and looks awesome! That was a great surprise.
That night Heather and Mike were also going to watch our kids so we could go out to eat for my birthday so we got to their house in Huxley and I walked in with Ty and there was almost everyone from our connection group plus some friends waiting to surprise me, and I was definately surprised! Heather and Kate had made soup and bread and it was so much fun just hanging out with everyone and spending a great evening with friends. When we got home late that night I came out of the bathroom to find a Tiffany's box on my pillow with a great necklace inside, that was a BIG surprise too! The next morning we had church and met my mom and dad at Hickory Park and the "boys" surprised me with a book set. It was a great birthday and I realized how blessed I am at all of our wonderful friends and family! This week we have been enjoying the much warmer weather and actually getting out of the house. We started D6 again last night and Gabe was so proud of this crown he made.
He has been wearing it a lot of the day today too. This morning we all made cookies and I'm not sure what I would do without my "helpers"(probably have a lot less mess and more cookies)
Ty had his first taste of cookie dough,
I think he is a fan
just like big brother.
I think that about sums up my random thoughts for now:)
